  Judge with Incredible passion

This is a story about a judge who lived  in  France many years ago.He was considered a fair as well as kind judge.

One day, a case was brought in his court.A baron who leased apartments brought a case again a poor widow who rented a apartment from him.

she had missed a payment of her rent .when she did not pay, the landlord tried to enter her apartment to evict her,but she did not permit him entry. Thus ,besides evicting her,the landlord was bringing a suit against the woman.
 

When the case brought before the judge,he found there was clause in the agreement written in small print saying the landlord has right to enter the premises of any property he owned whenever he wanted,even if someone was renting it.

There is usually something written in small words which most of the people do not read.And if they do ,then they don't understand the legal term in which it is written.

The judge realized that the woman could not have known about the clause because it was in fine print and in legal language.

When the judge realized that legally the landlord's case was strong,he ask the baron to be lenient with the woman saying "She is a poor widow.She didn't purposely try to block your entrance to you in her house.She is undergoing hard times.Why not be compassionate with her? Do you have to be merciless with this poor woman?"

Nevertheless,the landlord was hard-hearted  and refused to give up the case saying "NO,no,no.I want the rent I want her to undergo the penalty.I also want her to pay the legal fees."

Knowing that according to the terms of contract the woman was wrong to forbid the entry of landlord ,he was heartbroken to give his judgement.

He had to abide the law,but he did not want the woman to be hurt by  losing her place to live and paying  a fine,which is he knew she could not afford.  

The judge again tries to talk with the baron but the landlord was heartless and stubborn.

He refused to let go of this case.

Finally the Judge has to abide the law and rule against the woman ,agreeing she had the violated the terms of contract and would have to pay the penalty.

The penalty was to pay the rent and the cost of violating the lease plus the legal fees of the case.

As he announced the verdict,tears came to the judge's eyes realising that this would be difficult for the woman as she didn't have the money.He was bound by the law,But his heart went out in compassion for the woman's plight.

The order proclaimed that her apartment was to be seized along with her belongings,according to contract terms.

The woman broke down and saying "O God,if you  are merciful and righteous.You have be a friend to the widows and helpless orphans. 

The judge descended from his chair to go to the lady,and knowing that he could not change the verdict,he puts his hands into his pocket and  pulled out his wallet . He then counted his money and presented to the woman the costs that she had to pay for the penalty,Court costs and rent she owed.This gave the woman enough money to pay off the penalties and to be able to stay in her apartment.    

The woman was moved to tears at generosity of the judge.She could not not believe that he would do this for her ,being a stranger to him.

She the said to judge,"Thank you so much for the your kindness and generosity.How much time time do you want to give to me to pay you back for this financial  help?"

the judge beautifully replied,"When my conscience tells me that I have done the wrong thing in giving you the money to help you!"

She knew that as a judge he  had to make that judgement,but he did not want to be paid back,as his conscience and compassionate nature compelled him to help relieve her of that difficulty.

His generosity was widely known throughout his city as a leading example of blending fairness with compassion.
